Mayer track collects personal bests at Mingus


Kwame Jackson had a fifth-place finish in the 100 meters with a 12.20, and Bryce Atkerson took sixth place with a 12.34. Atkerson also placed fifth in the 200 with a 25.44 and took home a third-place medal in the long jump with a leap of 18'10.5".

CORDES LAKES Saturday, April 19, will be the Easter Egg Hunt at Cordes Lakes Community Center. Breakfast will be from 7 to 10 a.m. with chocolate chip or plain pancakes or biscuits and gravy for only $2. Hunts start at 10 a.m. Free produce is available Thursday, April 24, at the Community Center starting at 7 a.m.

Hot-air balloon lands hard near Mayer; passengers injured in crash


A hot-air balloon that took off from Cottonwood made a hard landing near Mayer on Monday morning after inadvertently flying over Mingus Mountain in high winds.
