Steve started with The Daily Courier in 1996 as a sports reporter. Before that he worked as a staff assistant in the Sports Department of The Arizona Republic in 1991, and became a staff writer for The Devil's Tale in Tempe (1991-92) covering Arizona State University athletics. He worked in both sports newsrooms while simultaneously attending Northern Arizona University, from which he earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in English (1994). He became sports editor at The Daily Courier in April 2005.
Steve has earned various Arizona newspaper awards in a variety of formats, including excellence in writing, page design and video production.
Steve lives in Prescott Valley with his wife, Robin. They have two daughters, Zoe and Abbey, and two dogs, Pepper and Martha. A native of Chicago, Steve spends his spare time watching the Cubs and the Bears, and the rest of his time anguishing over both.
